Upverse: Exploring Myth, Meaning and Mirth in the Post-Human Age
Dear Future Hi Readers,
As many of you know I founded Future Hi five years ago as way of creating a community around a shared visionary culture. During it's first two years the site became very popular with around 10,000 readers a day. It was a very productive and fun time at Future Hi, with prolific, often playful meditations on the frontiers of consciousness, science and technology.
I've been thinking lot lately about the intersections of transhumanism and visionary culture and continue to notice the gaping wholes in the discourse on what makes human lives most worth living. What is needed are compelling narratives and a sense of embodiment that can bring meaning to what are otherwise highly alien landscapes - a more Holy Self, rather than a Wholly Other. I think this alienation stems in part from both the dominant transhumanist demographic being composed mostly of scientists and technologist who are prone to using superlatives, without taking current ailments that common men and women face every day, and the psychonauts still caught up in being "hardcore" and have yet to land back on the earth to share in visceral terms their discoveries. Besides our lovely scientists and technological innovators, what we need is more input from poets, artists, healers, and creative types who deeply in touch with themselves and can share that wisdom with others.
UPverse is a new project whose goal is to address these issues, both practically and usable forms for healing ourselves and our world today, and for helping us, pushing to evolve to the higher levels. UPverse will attempt to bring together a diverse group of talented people looking to showcase their scientific and creative poetics to ignite our imagination, and inspire us to practical and immediate action as part of midwifing our species through its technological adolescence into a Type 1 Civilization, then onto becoming Cosmic Immortals.
UPverse is intended to be a COLLABORATIVE project, full of adventure to tackle this quest for a holistic union between scientific-technics and mythopoetics. As part of this venture, and as chief editor and promoter, I hope to get your articles published with wide appeal, the birthing of new books, manuscripts and manifestos, art projects, speaking engagements, and conferences (and unconferneces!), as well as the ongoing fund raising towards making made for-TV specials and documentaries through UPverse Productions.
It is my hope this site will feature the work of dozens, and in time, hundreds of new voices and talent. So if you want to get early and have influence in how the project evolves, please get in touch with me (contact information below).
So lets join forces, take action and crate the reality of our highest dreams and deepest aspirations for a better, more peaceful, prosperous and bountiful future.
Ad Astra!
