Yep, it's a on going thing to keep the site running, get funds in to pay the hosting and other things. I do wish to thank all who have donated. Those funds will be added to the cans I collect in the name of Future Hi. I kid you naught! With Gas being so high, everything going up, those cans I see on the side of the road as I drive 100 miles a day to the day job, I stop and gather.
Again, it would be nice to get some funds in to update the blog program. Have funds in place to pay the domain registration, hosting and bandwidth overage usage and so on. This all comes from my pocket.
I am adding some ads and other banner/button links for sponsors. If you click them, buy from them, a small percentage comes back to the site. I am trying very hard to keep what is placed, proper to the nature of the site.
You can find a very cool paypal donate button near the bottom of this page, lower right.

It's Open House for Future Hi Forums. Anyone can peek at the forums and read the posts. No login required. However, if you wish to post to one of the topics you will need to register. It's painless to register. You will need a valid email address and answer all the required questions.

We will take the site down, including the forums, this Saturday in memory of Arthur C. Clarke. A special web page will be shown in place of the all mighty 404 error.
We will resume normal day to day Sunday.

Donations are needed
Donations are needed to keep the blog and forums up and running. This year we are running very short on cash to pay the bills. Please donate.
How can you donate? See the “make a donation” button near the bottom of the page or note the send a PM to the owner in the forum.

Hi Everyone
It's been a while since I asked for donations. They are still needed. To run Future Hi and update the software, funds are required. At the beginning of the year I asked and did receive some funds. That help keep us going to the level we are now. Now it's time to ask for more. There is a paypal button you can use or contact me direct. Any amount is good. It all adds up.
Thanks
Dale
Forum has been updated with a few mods. I have a few more to do. I am just waiting to see how these work out before adding the next level.
Right off, most will not see anything different member wise. Other than a lack of spam and reduction to a more true number of members. Spam accounts removed for the most part. Spam account prevented from login too. In the last few days, the attempts of spammers to login, made the log very large. The log show where they come from, IP address and so forth. Not so secret as it revels a lot of info. It grew so large, that I have to delete it and let it build again. I am amazed at how many spammers are trying so hard to get in. It is no wonder that I was spending a few hours a day cleaning it all up.
With the spam gone, I hope users return. It has been very quite for a while there.

It's time to keep Future Hi going. We need our great authors back and bloging.
Site has been down due to needed payment to hosting company.
Sorry to everyone. I did not fully understand the past due and current due to the hosting company. The site needs funds donated in to keep it up and running.
Please contact me via email or use the paypal button on this page.
3 Jan 07 update
Noticed that some of the paypal donate buttons did not point to me. Altered that. If you did donate, let me know via email. I will be needing to pay the bill to keep the site up shortly.
4 Jan 07 another update
One of our donators pointed out to me, that the paypal donate button I edited, charged a shipping fee. Sorry for that. I re-visited paypal and made a new button up for donations only. That should solve that.
Note my new contact email address. dale "at" futurehi.net . That will forward to me. Please add that to your address book for future reference.
I am considering for those that donate to futurehi.net, a email address for them to use personally if they choose. Similar to my address for contact, with the futurehi.net behind the at. Non Spam use and some terms would apply, sensible common sense type things.
I want to thank all those that have donated so far. Ever little bit helps to keep it online. I would like to update the blog software as well as expand some areas here but all of that should be user supported.

Hi
I am Dale. I do a lot of things. Among them I run and maintain a few web sites, groups, forums, run a ISP biz, have a EM band (Inquisitor Betrayer) , run sound for a few local bands, have a day job and such. Plenty of things.
I am adding to that list. I will be the new person keeping Future Hi up and running. Over the next few days to weeks, as time permits, I will be removing the spam, altering some donation buttons and other minor things.
I don't really want to change Future Hi other than pushing more in the directions it seems to want to go now. In other words, I would like to see a lot more activity from the great minds who visit here. I will try very hard to see that what these minds have to offer is presented and kept with respect.
Spam is a issue I see that I can kept at a low and take care of when I find it. Do give me a hand with this. If you see something that does not belong, note me via email.
I wont be the only one monitoring and maintain. My band member lends a hand too. Wes is his name. I am sure he will leave a note for introductions soon. There are others in my group from time to time will also lend a hand.
Don't let the word monitoring give you the 1984 chills... we mean it in, we will be looking for spam and removing. Freedom of expressions can take many forms, we know this but if any saw the links posted in a few blog entries, you know that a line was crossed that just went a bit beyond.
I will be checking into the forum too. I know some entries there need to be moved now or adjusted to a more suitable forum.
Any suggestions, offers for help, words of wisdom and such, will be appreciated.
I would like each of our great contributors to drop me a email so I can met you and see if you have any special needs or something more I can do to help you in your contributions to the community. I can place in chat rooms here and other goodies as needed if need be.
I would also like to gather more contributors into the community too. Any advice or leads to this, do let me know.

Robert Anton Wilson needs our help.
I said I would never write for Future Hi again, but this is a monumental exception. Robert Anton Wilson has bar none had the most influence on my life and way of thinking than any other person in the world, friend and family included.
Note from Robert's friend, Denis Berry: Sadly, we have to report that wizard-author-intelligence increase agent is in trouble with his life, home and his finances. Robert is dying at his home from post polio syndrome. He has enough money for next months rent and after that, will be unable to pay. He cannot walk, has a hard time talking and swallowing, is extremely frail and needs full time care that is being provided by several friends-fans-volunteers and family. We appeal to you to help financially for the next few months to let him die at his home in peace.
From Future Hi pal Douglas Rushkoff,
I hope people I've inspired with my work would band together to help me out in my later years if I needed it. Which is at least part of the reason why I'm sending what I can to support cosmic thinking patriarch Robert Anton Wilson, whose infirmity and depleted finances have put him in the precarious position of not being able to meet next month's rent.
In case the name doesn't immediately ring a bell, Bob is the guy who wrote Cosmic Trigger -- still the best narrative on how to enter and navigate the psycho-spiritual realm, and co-wrote the Illuminatus Trilogy, an epic work that pushes beyond conspiracy theory into conspiracy practice. Robert Anton Wilson will one day be remembered alongside such literary philosophers as Aldous Huxley and James Joyce.
But right now, Bob is a human being in a rather painful fleshsuit, who needs our help. I refuse for the history books to say he died alone and destitute, for I want future generations to know we appreciated Robert Anton Wilson while he was alive.
Let me add, on a personal note, that Bob is the only one of my heroes who I was not disappointed to actually meet in person. He was of tremendous support to me along my road, and I'm honored to have the opportunity to be of some support on his.
Note from Robert's friend, Denis Berry: Robert's writing has enlightened-educated many and if you can please commit to help pay a portion of his expenses until his passing which sadly won't be that long. Monthly contributions of $50.00 or more will be greatly appreciated. All monies will go directly to Robert and can be sent to his PayPal address olgaceline@gmail.com. You can also send a check to RAW c/o Futique Trust, P.O. Box 3561, Santa Cruz, Ca 95063. Link
We have a new and improved Library, with all of Future Hi's main documents organized by title, author, subject, books, articles, and interviews. You will also find every blog entry by date, subject, and title.
Starting today I want Future Hi to become a hub for healing, inspirational and visionary art. I've created a new gallery section with the hope of doing this. The world is in desperate need for deep healing, and visionary art is a powerful means of bringing light to darkness.
I'm going to need help building this new gallery, including contacting artists to see if they want to participate. If you are interested in helping, please let me know (bennu23 at gmail dot com).
I was introduced to the works of Nikos Kazantzakis (1883-1957) many years ago. His words moved me like no other. Considered by many to be one of Greeks greatest prose writers and philosphers, Nikos Kazantzakis wrote a book called Saviors of God - Spiritual Exercises.
Thanks to Upwinger, there was a still a cached version of this book online. Long out of print and copyright expired I believe this book has now fallen into the public domain. Along with many other unique works in Future Hi's library, I've now added Saviors of God - Spiritual Exercises to the list.
Thanks to a kind soul named Adam, who can you can now meet in the Forums, we now have our forums back. Several changes were made. We consolidated several of the sections. This way there can be more conversation, rather than everything scattered about. It's also been upgraded, so there are way few security holes, so we shouldn't have any pesky hacks anytime soon. Enjoy. Also a big thanks to Cowbell for his help.

Future Hi is soon approaching it's two year anniversary. In that time the site has grown even more in size and popularity. In order to keep it going, there are some bills coming due. Any support you can offer to make sure we are around for another year would be greatly appreciated. Last year's proceeds made many new things possible - tons of new bandwidth to host all the great media files we have, the forums, and lots of new content added to our library section. Depending on how much we receive this year, we'd like to continue expanding our offerings to this blessed community. Along with your support, this is your chance to really make a difference.
Some projects which have yet to come to fruition include a 24 hour Future Hi radio station - like Soma FM, a bastion of utopian community building, an annual conference/convention bringing visionaries from around the globe together in one place for making even more of our positive visions a reality.
There are several other projects in the works. I've been hard at work getting online a psychedelic classic that is been out of print for 25 years. The author has also been dead almost that long. It's a stunning and heartfelt work and deserves to see the light of day. It's also one of the few psychedelic books written by a women. I've put up the introduction and first chapter, so you can see.

So if you can donate I would be very grateful. I'm looking for money donations in any quantity you wish to give. I promise you, all this money will go directly to keeping Future Hi alive and growing.
To donate, just click on the paypal button here, or on the bottom right hand column.
Future Hi fan and pal, Clifford Pickover, has just launched a new blog Godlorica: Breaking News on God and Other Higher Beings in this World and the World to Come.
Pickover is unique in his ability to traverse the greatest and weirdest depths of mysticism and religion while maintaining his cunning scientific reason and mathematical wit.
'Tis an ill wind that blows no minds' - Malcalypse the Younger.
Howdy all. Many of you may be wondering why the blog has been so silent of late. One of the reasons is that all of us who contribute lead very busy lives. I can only speak for myself, but there have been a lot of other things going on my life that have had to take priority over maintaining the blog. I'm glad the forums are there for people to make it their own.
I'm personally doing a lot of soul searching about a lot of things, including my involvement with Future Hi. I would be highly relieved if someone sufficiently motivated wanted to take over the site for awhile. If all goes well, I would even be happy with that person becoming the new 'owner' of the site. I would probably want to stay on as a part-time contributor, but that would be all. Maybe this will change in the future, but for now, someting like this will have to happen, or the blog portion of this site, may suffer a slow and possibily underserving death.
Bottom line is my heart is not into blogging right now. If you have an interest in contributing, please direct your inquiries to LVX23, who is the other primary editor for the site.
Peace and good will to all of you,
Paul
Our site administrator George has been hard at work getting a wiki up and customized. I've been a fan of wikipedia, and I'm hoping we can create something similar here, but around psychedelic futurism. I've just created some sections to get the basic layout going, so if you're good with making wiki pages, feel free to start tweaking away at it.
I've recently published a collection of writings called Walking Between Worlds. Culled from LVX23, Key23, Future Hi, and Barbelith, the collections spans the last 2 years or so. I mainly wanted to just be able to have an actual book to put on my shelf with the other books I love. But now that it's on Lulu anyone can buy a copy. Only $9.26 for 167 bound pages.
Musings & visions of nature, politicks, and magick. Thoughts on transcendence, communion, singularity & memetics, deities and rites, arcanum and numagicks. Paths I've trod, dropping breadcrumbs for any who might choose to follow, or simply stumble upon. Gossamer strands of mind stretched from within my skull out through vast digital networks and nodes, bound in syntax and dripping with crimson. Morsels of captured transience and persistent ideations alive and kicking through the mirrored halls of time.
I am very pleased to announce that Future Hi has two new writers of immeasurable talent and experience. The first is Jason Schaumberg, who is new to the writing world, but has tremendous perspective and insight that will be a welcome addition to our site. The second is Jessica Simon, who I was blessed to meet last year. Her intense wisdom, compassion, insight and charm are sure to open your mind and heart as much as she has mine.
New material from both of them coming your way soon.
As some of you may know I've been working on a book. I began it early last year, and along the way started this website. The website has been loads of fun because I get instant feedback on my ideas. Writing a book on the other hand can be lonely work. The combination of work and school has also taken up most of my time.
If possible I want to finish the book this year. This will mean sacrificing my time in other areas, specifically Future Hi, which is why I've been trying to get some more writers on board to pick up the slack. So if you're interested, please come forward. Also, if you know of any female writers, please let me know.
~~~
The book I'm writing is wide-ranging. The theme of the book is just like Future Hi itself. It's totally, unapologetically optimistic and utopian. It states unequivocally that this utopian, joyous, infinitely expanding future can be ours if were willing to build it. It's no longer a matter of possibility; it’s a matter of willingness and commitment. As a reader recently said in the forums, (sorry I can't remember your name), the most radical act one can do today is stake out a positive future. This book does this in abundance.
I've divided it into two parts. Part 1 will start from the present and move forward to the dawn of radical I˛ (i.e. the singularity), Part 2 - I˛ and beyond (after the singularity).
Although I don't necessarily believe in the 2012 date, or the singularity as it is often conceived (it's a bit too monotheistic for me), it is clear that change is accelerating, and when greater-than-current-human levels of intelligence are exceeded, when I˛ starts bootstrapping itself, it's impossible from our current level of intelligence to speculate much what happens after that. That's not going to stop me from trying however! That's half the fun, and will occupy much of part 2.
Here is a very brief and cursory glance at some topics covered and already written for both parts:
~~~Part 1 (pre-singularity)
~~~Part 2 - (post-singularity)
If you can think of anything I'm overlooking, or specific ideas within what's already above that need further development, then please leave your comments below. I like to give full credit where credit is due, so if you have something substantial to add and I decide to include your ideas in the book, full credit will be given, either in the acknowledgements or in the book itself.
There are only 2 days left (March 1st) to get tickets at the low price of $225. Click here to order. Both LVX, Mark Pesce (who is presenting) and myself (Paul) are all going to be there. For those of you coming, please contact me and we can all arrange to meet. Here are the details:
The Sacred Mirrors
The Sacred Mirrors series is a totally unique work of contemporary sacred art created by Alex Grey. This installation of 21 framed images, consisting of 19 paintings and two etched mirrors, examines the anatomy of body, mind and spirit in rich detail. Each painting presents a life-sized figure facing viewers and inviting them to mirror the images, creating a sense of seeing into oneself.
The life-sized representations of the human body, portraying its physical and energetic systems, are both rigorously precise and vividly visionary. The Sacred Mirrors dramatically reveal the miracle of life's evolutionary complexity, the unity of human experience across all racial, class and gender divides, and the astonishing vistas of possibility inherent in human consciousness. Alex Grey has combined ancient wisdom, anatomical accuracy and post-modern eclecticism to produce elegant, universally accessible, eternally relevant and resonant symbols.
I was contacted earlier today by the Executive Producer of Coast to Coast AM, a late night talk show with over 8 million listeners and 500 affiliates. She discovered Future Hi from one of their listeners. They are interested in the possibility of having me on the show for a live call-in interview. Of course this would be great. The challenge we quickly found was finding a 'focus' or 'angle' that would make me work for their audience, who are predominantly middle America. Coast to Coast is kind of like the old Art Bell show, but perhaps for a more general audience. I'm confidant we can find an angle in which to bill me for their show, and an interview format that will work. She said she would need to spend a little more time on the site to see if she can get it to "congeal" with her audience.
Lets keep our fingers crossed.
My bottom line message was that amidst all the tragedy, crisis and catastrophe in the world, there is a way out. We can have a positive future as long as we are willing to embrace that possibility. For those of you who have been reading this site for awhile know, there are positive solutions to every pressing problem we have today. Hopefully Coast to Coast AM can tap into what we have here, and bring me on to their show. Perhaps alternatively they are looking for something "shocking". We can certainly deliver on that angle too.
If you have any suggestions, please comment below.
Thanks to a generous contribution from the Ojai Foundation, and its ex-program director Stephen Aichele, we now have an additional 100 hours of recorded material from people like Albert Hoffman, Houston Smith, Joseph Campbell and Terrence Mckenna. Now available in our Media Section.
Most of these recordings were done in the 1980's, even some in the 1970's. These are historical treasures now available for the first time in many years. Included is an additional 21 hours of Terrence McKenna, 6 hours of Houston Smith, 5 hours of Joseph Campbell, 3 hours of Marilyn Ferguson, and 2 hours of Dr. Albert Hoffman (father of LSD).
Some of these recordings were done more than 30 years ago, so the quality is spotty at times, but well worth it. Listening to McKenna for only a few minutes yielded some golden moments between him and the audience.
Enjoy!
Daniel Pinchbeck, myself and many others, including our own resident genius LVX23 are colloborating on the launch of a new print magazing called Metacine that, if all goes well, will hit the shelves all over the US and Canada this summer.
One of our group is at the Sundance Film Festival right now passing out hundreds of full-color brochures to help generate buzz. We recently nabbed Sting to give us a blurb. Here is the introduction:
Are you interested in collaborating on a new paradigm for planetary culture?The goal of Metacine: A magazine for the New Edge is to present the paradigm for a new planetary culture. Today's world is out of balance, rocked by constant crisis - threatened by climate change, violence, pullution, rising energy costs, and environmental neglect. Bu the solutions to many of these problems already exist. What is required is a quantum leap in consciousness, a mind-shift, that can give us the inspiration, will, and practical tools to make our highest visions into reality.
My article, Super Free Will, has already been approved for inclusion in the premier issue.
Due to the tremendous work of our new technical wiz George we now have Forums! You can find the link in the top menu bar above.
This is exciting news as it will finally allow people to start their own discussions. We expect this section will quickly become the dominant part of Future Hi. So please register, and let the conversations begin.
Future Hi is looking to fill three positions. An archivist, a fund-raiser, and a site administrator. These positions will be semi-paid (They would be on an as-needed basis).
The Archivist would be responsible for building and organizing our growing archives section. The fund-raiser will help us raise some extra cash to help grow the site, including paying for these three positions.
For details, please contact me directly at psidoc at gmail.com
Editor, Future Hi
Looks like someone mentioned Future Hi and the new media archives over at BoingBoing. We've since been deluged with lots of extra traffic. Earlier today I was contacted by an ex-program manager from the Ojai Foundation which has been a nexus for cutting edge thought. He has generously offered us dozens of hours of recordings of everyone from Albert Hoffmam to Thich Nhat Han. He is working on getting this large amount of material to me. I will sift through for the best of it and post it in the media section as soon it is available. I'll be sure to post an update here when that project is completed.
Additionally, feedback on the post over at BoingBoing gave us this link for Trip Receptacles - with loads of very trippy stuff. Here is an excerpt from their site:
Imagine that you had unfettered access to nine hours of commercial-free airtime on a major FM radio station with a 60,000 watt signal covering a third of California. What kind of material would you broadcast? Well, what else? Why, you'd enthusiastically promote the extensive use of powerful psychedelic drugs, obviously!So of course, that's exactly what we did in The Trip Receptacles, a series of three 3-hour shows consisting of all-psychedelic, all-entheogen radio, transmitted via KPFA in Berkeley (and KFCF in Fresno). And boy was it a success! In fact, we had so much fun that I decided to put nearly four hours of material from those radio shows right here on the web as MP3's for your enjoyment! This material was digitally recorded right from the studio board, with all the best moments lovingly culled and meticulously edited.
They have on the air conversations between Sasha Shulgin, Tim Leary, Stan Grof, D.M. Turner, Terrence McKenna, Andrew Weil and Fritjof Capra, as well as lots of people calling in while tripping on all sorts of stuff.
If you notice there is now a media section on the top navigation bar. There are recordings of Mark Pesce, Robert Anton Wilson, and Terence McKenna. Enjoy!
If anyone knows how to set-up Blogtorrents of these, please let me know.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! That's enough to keep Future Hi running for another 2 years plus! We can only hope that we will provide enough hopeful, positive, fun, and stimulating content over the coming year to make it worth it.
Mark Pesce just gave me all his audio recordings as a start, which will be online within a few days.
Hi Everyone,
After a long hiatus, vacation, technical problems and a huge migration, Future Hi is up and running again. Over the next few days there will be a lot of things I want to announce and some big "thank yous" to all the people who donated and made it possible for Future Hi to continue for another couple of years.
Stay tuned.
Future Hi is soon approaching it's one year anniversary. In that time the site has grown in size and popularity. In order to keep it going, there are some bills coming due. In the ten years I've been on the net, I've managed to pay all the bills required to host websites, blogs, etc. This time is different. I'm in grad school now and between the cost of school and my resultant lower income I'm in a crunch to get the bills paid for both the domain name and hosting for another year.
Additionally, I'm looking to move Future Hi to a new hosting provider who offers more bandwith for less cost. Currently this site gets uncomfortably close to the limit of 6GB of transfer each month. I have found a great hosting provider that offers 80GB/month of transfer for only $8/month, or $96 a year. This is a great deal! Better, this provider is rated number #1 in the world two years running. What that means for Future Hi is we could start hosting high quality content, such as audio recordings, video, music, and even a radio station (which I've been contemplating for a long time).
Mark Pesce approached me a few months ago looking for a good place to host some high-bandwidth content. If we can transfer Future Hi to this new provider, then we can offer that space for Mark to host it for the rest of us. There are lots of other things we can do with that space too. I'm looking to add a wiki, forums, and maybe a chat room. I think if Future Hi can meet these goals, it will become an even better site for everyone, and probably attract a lot more people.
There are several other projects in the works. I've been hard at work getting online a psychedelic classic that is been out of print for 25 years. The author has also been dead almost that long. It's a stunning and heartfelt work and deserves to see the light of day. It's also one of the few psychedelic books written by a women. I've put up the introduction and first chapter, so you can see.
So if you can donate I would be very grateful. I'm looking for money donations in any quantity you wish to give. I promise you, all this money will go directly to keeping Future Hi alive and growing. Even if you can only donate $5, that will help. If you can donate $10 or even $20, that would be even better. I'm hoping to raise about $200, with a maximum of $300. Once that limit is reached, no more donations will be accepted. If we reach $300, the extra money will go to those of you want to help me with the technical end of things. I already have one volunteer who has graciously offered his skill and time. He isn't asking for anything, but a little money can go a long way.
So please if you can donate something, we will appreciate it greatly. All donors will get an honorable mention on the site, unless you request anonyminity.
To donate, just click on the paypal button here, or on the bottom right hand column.
Today, Future Hi was going to have a Skype conference call, unfortunately, Skype has too many limitations (for now) to make it practical. There is a limit of only 5 people, and the person hosting needs it needs to have more than 128kps upstream, which no one does. That, and Skype has yet to release a Mac version, which leaves several people unable to participate. So, I'm going to have Erica create a permanent Future Hi IRC "bot" channel #futurehi This should be done this week sometime, and then I will re-schedule an official chat.
Enjoy your weekend!
