Godlorica

Future Hi fan and pal, Clifford Pickover, has just launched a new blog Godlorica: Breaking News on God and Other Higher Beings in this World and the World to Come.

Pickover is unique in his ability to traverse the greatest and weirdest depths of mysticism and religion while maintaining his cunning scientific reason and mathematical wit.

'Tis an ill wind that blows no minds' - Malcalypse the Younger.

I have NO idea what to think of this.

What's this guy's angle?

this cliff guy's website (not the blog) is really wierd. its got all these dumb puzzles and other things, along with an ESP program that claims it can predict what card youre thinking of and remove it. the catch is, he removes ALL the cards. but he says its ESP, and that noone can figure out how he did it. it took me like ten seconds to figure this out, and i'd like to know why he's pretending that its real and noone can figure it out.

Good questions...(but some of his books are pretty cool...)

Yeah, I did his puzzle about five or six years ago. I think he's just having some fun.

Intelligent play -- what higher goal could we ever reach for?

Posted by: Upwinger at November 29, 2005 05:45 PM

As always, Upwinger, you're spot-on! See also the discussion of "Time & Games" in Alan Harrington's classic **The Immortalist**. And see also philosopher Bernard Suits' classic **The Grasshopper: Games, Life & Utopia**, as well as James Carse's book **Finite & Infinite Games**. Intelligent, creative play, along with exploration & contemplation (forgive me for being terribly aristotelian...[wink]) would seem to be the post-human cosmic destiny...
